Thank you for sharing this story, which is part of our life experience too. Very powerful, and brought back many memories. Love the fact that some of the survivors have stayed in touch.

A very moving story. One of my friends here in Vietnam is a survivor of that flight. He and his twin sister made it somehow. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my, give your friend my best, please. I didn't mention it in this story but my family and I were originally slated to be on that flight, but my mom changed her mind at the last minute. Probably because the seven kids in our family were going to take up space needed for the orphans. That knowledge--that others died in my stead, or were deeply affected by the crash, has haunted me much of my life.
