Mairbeth's remembrance is so vivid, I could almost see those tracers and smell the gun powder. I just shudder to think how horrifying it must have been for the people out celebrating, to suddenly realize that those were bullets raining down on them.
Thanks so much for the comment, Denise, I'll be sure to pass it on to her. It was a difficult time for so many people. There's a line in my mother's February 1975 letter: "Tet is a time of happiness for the New Year mixed with anxiety." I wonder when, if ever, that changed after 1968?
