#1 “Drilling a hole” has the most possibility of suspense. You need more drama like “holy SH—!” Or WTF in genuine disbelief. You’ll not be reading so you’ll have more expression. Have a beer or gin & tonic like you’re telling a tale to a CIA friend. Good luck! Send us a recording! ❤️🇺🇸❤️

I like numbers 1 and 4 best. Number 1 manifests a feeling of danger and dread that will keep people interested. Number 4 promises first-hand memories about the fall from the neighbor.

Good luck!

Thanks Denise--so glad to het your input! Someone suggested I combine the two into a story arc and your comment helps add to that approach.

Well they are all wonderful. I’m stuck between 1,2, and 4. Does that help?

It does actually—Paul B had a great idea to combine them into a story arc!

I like #4 because it shows the sense of community that is inherent in Vietnamese culture.

That is very cool, John. Thank you!

I like #1. It builds up wonderfully by gradually introducing story elements such as living in Vietnam and dealing with the Viet Cong. It packs a good punch and keeps hold until the end of the segment. It made me want to hear the rest of the story.

Thanks for asking, and for sharing your stories. They were all delightful to listen to. I thought maybe 1 and 4 could be combined into one story about the house. That’s my vote! Good luck with the Moth.

I love that idea. I'll definitely have more than a minute so having that "theme" will really help me fill it out. Thanks, Julie! ((Googly-eye Smile goes here))

Hey, Kat!! #1 drew me into the story immediately, and more strongly than the others, although I know from reading your book that they all are worth hearing. Good luck, I hope whichever you choose gets chosen by Moth!!!

I love all the stories, but 4 and 1 are my favorites, in that order. Number 4 resonates with me especially because I know that haunted feeling when you return to a place that used to be home, but isn’t anymore. It’s how I felt returning after 33 years to Ky Dong street and seeing the building I had lived in years before at a unique time in history. Sadly, no one recognized me.

"that haunted feeling . . ." Such a good way to put it. I had not idea what to expect when I entered that alley and the neighbor's presence made such a difference. I'm so sad now that I didn't get his name!

Absolutely, definitely #1. It has the immediate "hook" that will make it a lock for the Moth radio hour. The others are good, but lack the instant attention grabber that #1 contains. Good luck!

I love them all, but my two favorites are #1 and #4. #1 has the element of suspense and drama. And #4 makes you feel like a really good heartwarming story is coming.

Keep us posted!
