I knew Nova Bell and her son Michael that were on the flight. Her husband and my husband Rich Nickelson were in in language school in 1973 to 1974 in California. Often wonder about her husband and daughter that were not on the flight

Thank you for joining in on this conversation. There is a Babylift Facebook Group. I wonder if her husband and daughter participate in that at all?

I have a friend who was on that flight and he now lives here in Vietnam. Thanks for sharing the story.

Ann, I keep thinking of these women . . . so many lives, so much sacrifice, their families . . . as my dad said, "I cry."

It’s why I say and post their names every year. Always remember. Never forget. Close to half of all the civilian American women who died in Vietnam were killed in the Babylift crash.

I wish I had more time -- a book about all the civilian women who died in Vietnam would be such an addition to our collection of hidden history. I'm just finishing "You Don't Belong Here: How Three Women Rewrote the Story of War" by Elizabeth Becker.

That was such a good book. Two women journalists, Georgette “Dickey” Chapelle and Philippa Schuyler died in Vietnam. A third, Marguerite Higgins, died after leaving Vietnam of a disease she contracted there.

I want to mention also that an old friend, Heather Mohr's paternal grandfather, MSgt Wendle Lee Payne, age 46, also died 50 years ago today on the Babylift Flight. 🙏🏽
